Criterion Games has reported that the Trophies will not be retroactive as reported earlier.

Criterion Games had this to say on the subject:

Burnout Paradise saves are locked to your profile. We had hoped to use this to retroactively award trophies, but we discovered during testing that this is not possible. You will therefore require a fresh game-save to receive trophies in Burnout Paradise.

To obtain the Trophy Pack, start Burnout Paradise while connected to the Playstation Network and the update will automatically download.

The downloadable edition of Burnout Paradise that was scheduled for release today on the Playstation Network is also available for purchase.

64 Trophies that will be coming soon to Burnout Paradise have been listed at PS3Trophies.org. Criterion Games have stated in the past that the Trophies will be retroactive because of the unique way the gamesave data from Burnout Paradise is linked to the users Playstation Network account.

The 64 Trophies that are slated for release include 47 Bronze, 12 Silver, 4 Gold & 1 Platinum. 7 of these are Bike related Trophies.

The price for the download was not mentioned, but it is expected to cost the same as the disc-based edition.

The wait is almost over. The latest free downloadable update for Burnout Paradise has been given a release date of Thursday, September 18th, 2008 . This update, once known as Davis and now known simply as Bikes, will add many anticipated features to an already jam-packed game.

Features include:
Pick from 2 motorcycles featuring male or female characters and start on a whole new progression to earn your Bike License.
38 new against-the-clock race events – Burning Ride and Midnight Ride.
A brand new in-game 24 hr day / night cycle that impacts traffic density and available events. (It's fully customisable – you can make it day/night/change the clock speed – it's up to you.)
Dynamic weather brings an all-new look to Paradise City
And if that's not enough, we've got 70 more Freeburn Challenges too

Criterion Games has also hinted at the Trophy support for the PS3 version of Burnout Paradise. Whether it will be included in the Bikes pack is unknown at this time.

Burnout Paradise for the PC was announced a while ago but has taken a backseat to the updates which brings bikes and a new island into the game.

We finally now have some additional news regarding the PC version of Burnout Paradise, including a release date. At GC 2008, EA set up a booth to show off the game. Gamespot had this to say about what they saw.

The PC setup at the EA booth was magnificent, with three monitors being fed simultaneously using a box from manufacturer Matrox. While the images from the side monitors were slightly stretched, the added viewing angle really made it easier to take down enemies. The PC version will also support the same camera functionality as console versions, meaning you'll be able to use any USB webcam to capture images for your licenses and online takedowns. As for other PC features, the development team claims that it might tweak the single-player progression slightly, but it still has to finalise the details.

GameSpot also confirm that Burnout Paradise should be coming to PC in January 2009. System requirements are yet unknown. As soon as we know them we'll post them here at Operation Burnout. In the meantime check out the new screenshots of the PC version above and below.

After some controversy over the selective distribution of a new car, the Nakamura Rai-jin Turbo RWD, with the Cagney update, Criterion have decided to open it up and allow everyone to own the car.

To get hold of the car simply join an online game (or host your own), drive to the nearest Junkyard and the car will be waiting for you. The Rai-Jin is an online only car meaning you can only use it when playing online.

In addition to this, the Hunter Olympus has been dated. On Saturday 26th July the car will become avalible to everyone in the same way the Rai-Jin is, online only.

Xbox 360 players will have to wait a little longer for the update. As previously reported, there was a delay in the update after problems were found by Microsoft during approval of the update. Since then the ETA of Cagney for 360 has been pushed back further to 24th of July. We'll keep you updated on the progress of Cagney for the 360 so be sure to check back.

You can now mute other online players in the show players screen
You can now mute yourself if you have a PS3 Eye/Eye toy

Added an stronger display message if you rule all of Todays Best
The Easy Drive menu & Challenges page now loops from top to bottom
Fixed the navigation system so that it takes into account the next check point in a race
Fixed traffic not reappearing in Freeburn after a no-traffic race
Fixed online races using Lawrence Road – it's been reporting finish distances with a little inaccuracy
Revised 30+ car resets following crashes
All new sound effects added for Easy Drive
Driving backwards in Road Rage now ends the event as it does in Marked Man

Improved the Standard Definition rendering on PS3
New highlight to show the player in Today's Best
Easy Drive fades out if it's unused for 20 seconds
Boost chaining no longer possible by drifting in open areas

It's not just the addition of new challenges but also the way they're completed. There will be two new types of challenges with different ways to complete them.

  Multi part challenges
We've started to string together multiple challenges – this adds depth and allows you to play a heap of challenges in sequence.

Here's how it can work – 8 players hook up at the Observatory on White Mountain and head for the Rock Hole on South Mountain Drive taking in a long sequence of challenges. Jump over Dead Man’s Edge, hit the windmill jump, race through the tubes in the building site and nail the jump sequence leading to the rock hole.

That's the sequence we play-tested today. Because so many of us were crowding through the jumps they became completely chaotic and hilarious. Stacking it in first place then repeatedly watching your rivals slam into your crash debris as you try to restart caused some immense comedy moments. The carnage contributes to creating a constantly changing Freeburn Challenge environment – it's great fun.

  Timed Challenges

Each of our new Challenges has a time limit that really encourages cooperation. If the team doesn’t finish in time, everybody fails.

It's co-operative, but there's a competitive edge too. We call out the player that performed best, so while everyone works together to get the best team time, they’re still competing against each other to be the first to finish.
Each challenge will have it’s own Leaderboard where you can compete to be top. You can check out terrible quality YouTube video of three of the new challenges at the links below.
All 70 new new challenges will be available in the Cagney update due at the end of June.
