Nope. This isn't a late April fools joke. Criterion have actually decided to include
motorbikes in Burnout Paradise.
In the latest Crash FM video podcast (Crash TV) the development team announced that with the Davis update you can speed around the streets of Paradise City on a motorcycle.
Alex Ward states that "
This is mototcycles in paradise, not burnout on a bike."
Here's a quick run down off all that was revealed in on the episode.
- Dubbed by Criterion as "Motorcycles 1.0".
- The motorbikes can perform wheelies.
- There is no boost for the bikes.
- When first trying the bike there will be no traffic.
- On launch there will not be racing against cars but this may be added in a future update.
- Bikes can be crashed.
- When they crash the rider disappears.
- Change to a bike by visiting any of the junk yeards
Expect to see the ability to use bikes as part of paid downloadable content. No price have been announced yet. In addition to just being able to ride the bikes, Criterion also mentioned that there will be special game modes, challenges and locations for the bikes.
This addition to Burnout Paradise will be available in August as part of the Davis paid update
For your viewing pleasure here's a heavily watermarked screenshot and a webcam quality video showing off the bikes.
