Burnout Paradise Demo

Burnout Paradise Updates

Thursday 13th December on the PS3 and XBox360.

The demo will give us all the opportunity to check out Burnout Paradise before its official release date on 22nd January 2008 for North America or January 25th for Europe. According to a GameStop article the demo allows you to play offline and online. At the beginning of the demo you're at the junkyard driving a beaten-up Hunter Cavalry which you have to go get repaired. Once this is complete you're encouraged to explore the area available to you in the demo (Motor City, Ocean View, and Big Surf Beach). Once visited, points of interest, such as gas stations to refill boost, paint shop and various start points for different races will be saved on the map for future reference. Not all the race starting points on the map are avalible to play in the demo, however there are junctions to start a race, a stunt run, and a burning route.

GameSpot have noted some very interesting details about the actual gameplay.
There's a compass at the top of the screen that shows you, as the crow flies, which direction your objective is in, and it's augmented by a small audio alert that sounds if you start heading completely the wrong way. Street signs also pop up on the screen to let you know where you are and, when appropriate, smaller flashing street signs will appear to the left and/or right of it (think of them as turning signals) to let you know what options you have coming up.

The demo will also include:
  • 15 billboards to crash through
  • 6 Super Jumps
  • 34 Shortcut Fences to Crash Through
  • Mugshots
As if that wasn't enough, the demo will also give you the opportunity to play Freeburn Online with up to three other burners in either a public or a friends-only environment. If you're the one hosting the session you'll have the option to create challenges for your group, which are cooperative rather than competitive.

Be sure to checkout the GameStop Demo Preview and/or the IGN Demo Preview

Here's a rather nice promo for the demo
