Island Spoilers (Including Price!)
Posted 6 Jun 2009
I think CG are going to be rather mad at me :sneaky:
OK, you know you you can change the image names posted on CGN to find new ones unposted. Well I figured since the articles were uploaded to the server, the one announcing BSI's price would be on there. Using Chrome, I managed to find the code for articles: http://portal.burnou... cle?article=xxx. So with some tampering (Try articles around the 860 mark, these are future ones unpublished), you will find a lot about the Island, including the price. Here is the introduction to article 864...

Big Surf Island: Out Today
07:00 Thursday 11 June 2009
MS 1000 points
PSN $12.99 / €12.99 / £9.99
Try it yourself, I found this out about 5 minutes ago, so i've only done around 5 pages, mostly just Island Overviews. Watch out though, the system is rather odd, and some articles repeat themselves on different URLs.
*EDIT 1*
Article 858 reveals special edition Duststorm may be called 'Super Turbo':
Quote
His test drive of the brand new Dust Storm was so splendid, that Jeeves has also been tasked with placing an immediate order with Carson to ship the Super Turbo version back to England.
*EDIT 2*
CG Network to get new Island tab with sub tabs showing road rules, etc (860). Ooft, I feel like a live blogger!
Quote
On top of the overall visual refresh that you will immediately notice in the screenshot below you will also be able to access the full range of Island stats and get the chance to become the new 'King of the Roads'.
*EDIT 3*
CG are preparing well; they seem to have 4 or 5 articles advertising Burnout Paradise DLC set for release in 2020! -
The Island Guide (Incomplete)
Posted 4 Jun 2009
Big Surf Island is the long awaited 6th area to Burnout Paradise. Over this thread, I will give locations of Streets, Districts, Billboards, Smashes, Mega Jumps, and more. Unlike the Islandpedia, this just gives the information you need, and IS accurate, although I am giving some extra information about the Island. Enjoy!

Plain Map:
The Plain map has nothing added, just the map you would see in-game.
Plain Road Map:
The Plain Road map just has lines on to indicate roads from the rest of the map.
Named Road Map:
The Named Road map shows individual roads marked out in colours, with names to match.
District Map:
The District Map highlights the districts of the Island.
Discovery:
Billboard Map:
All the Billboards of Big Surf Island.

Mega Jump Map:
All the Mega Jumps of Big Surf Island.

Smash Map:
All the Smashes of Big Surf Island.

Point Of Interest Map:
The Point Of Interest map shows areas useful to the player, like Car Parks, Notable Jumps, Drivethroughs, and High Density gameplay areas.

Els Bels Map:
Els Bels resort can be a very confusing place. Here is a map showing the resort, including the mega jumps, billboards, buildings and shortcuts.

Events:
Event Map:
The Event map points out the different events on the Island, including Stunt Run, Race, Marked Man, Burning Route, Road Rage, and Island Tour.

’Tour Of Duty’ Island Tour Map:
Tour Of Duty covers the south-eastern section of the island, including 2-3 Mega Jumps.

’Duststorm’ Burnout Route Map:

Big Surf Island: The Tube Map
Posted 7 May 2009
Guys, reset your Island thread counters.
Really I don't know whether this should be in the Islandpedia thread or not, but I've decided not to as this isn't really related to it. Basically I've conjured up a tube map, like the one of the London Underground, which makes up the roads of the Island, and marking out some main points and attractions along the way. So without further ado:

Burnout Sale? (PS3)
Posted 3 Apr 2009
For those who have just bought all the packs, please :db: now.
It appears that starting next week the UK will have a 2 week sale, where some content will be offered at a lower price. Its not said what, but given the local onslaught of content lately its likely they may push the price of the packs down a little. -
The Islandpedia (Final/37th Update 24.05.09)
Posted 28 Mar 2009
Hello there, here is just about everything know to man about the island, all information being gained through videos and pictures only, along with a map section. You are free to use this and the island maps on other sites, providing you credit me (floor-3013) during the post.
ISLANDPEDIA:
Island History:
-Conceived at the end of the main game for Burnout Paradise, the island was in an incomplete form in the final build, and was still in a ‘white box’ state. Originally there were plans for a second Island, seen as late as July 2008 (CTV2), as wrapping around the eastern half of the Island. A first bridge would have been in the northern road, one at the most eastern point, and a jump from the south-eastern tip. However this was scrapped later on.
Island Geography:
-The new islands will lie east of Angus Wharf in a new 6th area in paradise, Paradise Keys. This will have 1 sub-district; Big Surf Island, although road signs on the island refer to areas such as ‘Midtown’, ‘Big Surf Bridge’, ‘Perren’s Point’ and ‘North Beach’. There will be 1 bridge to BSI; located east of 4th street in paradise city. The Island's size is relative to that of the demo area, or downtown (from a top-down view, however once you take into account the vertical scale and shortcut density it is roughly 1.5-2 times the size). The island will include 2 possibly 3 large beaches, one in the north, one in the east, and one towards the south although the latter is unknown yet. It is notable that all Pavements on the Island are in Red Brick, the billboards orange, super jump cones orange and smashes red. The western side of the Island is mainly under development, but features urban areas, in the architectural style of Palm Bay Heights. The eastern side is relatively rural, with some developments, and a festival like atmosphere in the lower east side with blimps, banners and the suchlike.
Island Features:
-15 Events (At least 1 Burning Route)
-Island Tour options, possibly a set of multipart offline challenges ‘touring’ around the Island.

Notes:
-The Islandpedia intends to show as much information as possible about the Island. However there are some instances where there isn’t enough information to prove that something is there, or there are limitations due to other things behind it etc... Generally, I would say I have mapped around 1/2-2/3 of the Islands stunts and shortcuts, but that leaves the other stuff. Now most of that I have only seen brief glimpses of, for example the north-eastern quarter, the top 2 central blocks have barely been mapped, but I know there’s stuff there, it’s just that I don’t know what, where it’s from or what it looks like other than a huge bulk shadowing over a cliff. If you know what I mean.

Map References: (Blue=Drivethroughs, Red=Multi-storey Car Parks)
1: Bridge: A large bridge, still under construction despite being opened up to the public, with 5 large struts on each side holding it up. Work is still taking place including cranes being brought in, and jumps are varied on the bridge, including 38.
2: Construction Yard: An area of high stunt density, comparable (and exceeding) to that of the quarry/airfield.
2a: A central site hub of sorts, containing a double split ramp, a large open area, and to the north-east a jump with a billboard on the end.
2b: 3 construction frame buildings, containing no gameplay.
2c: An area of oval shape submerged underground, similar in style to a trench or skateboard half-pipe ring.
2d: A building of semi-circular size, acting as a launch pad for 2e. Going around the building, a passageway leading up in a helter-skelter fashion to the roof, where at least 1 jump is available, as well as access to 2e. 7 horizontal struts, capable of holding cars.
2e: Accessible through 2d, this is a set of 2 buildings, both with access to eachother, the top providing a jump to a billboard and some hoops, with the bottom some more jumps and a billboard jump.
3: Taylor Jay Towers (AKA DBC9MX Hotel): 'Won' by DBC9MX in the Downtown Showtime Showdown, the hotel, previously a rough circle with windows resembling those on the tallest building on the mainland, is now almost-square in shape and contains the logo in many parts.
4: Circle Car Park: Added in during development, this is a circular car park which spirals round to lead to 4 superjumps, all on a level around halfway up.
5: Lake: A Small lake enclosed within the most north-western block of the island.
6: Marina: A Large marina comprising of yachts and boats. It is thought a Paradise Ferry station to link with the one on Angus Wharf may be located here.
7: Space Center: A large dome shaped space center, made of hexagonal sections, is the most northern building on the island, and will contain some kind of gameplay.
8: The North Beach: A beach area similar to Big Surf Beach, containing jumps, stunts and the suchlike. It may extend onto a shortcut around 7, although this is unknown.
8a: A pier, built on the site of where in the original islands concept a bridge to the 2nd island would be.
8b: An area on the eastern side of the beach. With access to the northern road, this area also contains a 12-way circular split ramp.
8c: A rectangular building running parallel to the northern road.
8d: A triangular toll building which can be used as a jump over the pier.
9: Middle Car Park: A Large car park containing 5 floors, a semi-circular ramp to the next level, and also has jumps on the top, including 2 standard ramps, a ramp leading onto building 11, and another onto 10.
10: Skyscraper: A Skyscraper which contains a ledge halfway, in which cars can jump from the Middle Car Park and onto one of 2 ramps both suspended from cranes. These contain barrel roll ramps and offer opportunities to jump over the marina. Additionally, there is a large hole running through the middle of the lower building, accessible from 9.
11: Wave Mall: A large building which can be accessed by a ramp over a road from the Middle Car Park, and contains a jump opportunity to 23, as well as a further ramp to 12.
12: A building in which can be reached from 11, and a billboard is suspended on the side of. It is thought there may be a jump opportunity on this building, in order to reach the said billboard.
13: A building technically part of the construction site, and under construction, which contains a ramp from the ground and leads to a burnout billboard, and possibly a stunt opportunity into the site.
14: The Three Palms: An area containing an attraction entitled 'The Three Palms' contains gameplay including 2 burnout billboard jumps. It will be reached by the road south of it, and may contain 33.
15: Gas Station: A Gas station on a corner shortcut, also contains a burnout billbaord on top.
16: Gas Station 2: Another gas station, this time a straight one.
17: BSI Police Department: A police department on a corner, known to contain some billboard jumps, probably on the roof. It may also be an additional checkpoint for Cops + Robbers games.
18: 3-Stage Jump Sequence: A 3-Stage jump sequence concluding in a billboard jump.
19: Shortcut: A small shortcut parallel to 20, which may have an alternate exit leading to another area in the island (maybe 14).
20: Tunnel: A large road tunnel with no specific gameplay features.
21: Repair Shop A straight Repair shop
22: Lighthouse Jump: A large lighthouse located on the eastern side of the Island. Inbetween the top and the base is a large hole, which can be reached from a jump on the northern side, possibly the northern end of 41.
23: A donut shop, you can go in the 'drive through' area, and from 11, through the large donut and through to 24 through a jump.
24: A continuation of the path from 23. This will lead down to the top road.
25: A series of jumps set over 2 buildings in step form from a jump from 9, with smashes going off on the left side, and 2 jumps at the beginning and end of the buildings.
26: A brief billboard jump going over the road, with a sharp 180 turn onto the road.
27: A light billboard jump leading onto a grassy area, then the road.
28: A X-intersection between 2 shortcuts. One leads from another, jumps across the road and onto a collapsed house.
29: A small billboard jump leading from 14.
30: A silver and Yellow building, starting with a billboard jump, then leading onto the Big Surf Island arch and onto 32.
31: A side road leading from the marina and running parallel to another. It is the most westerly area on the island to run under the bridge.
32: A building consisting of 2 parallel sloped sides. It is thought they will lead onto the Big Surf Island sign.
33: A CRASHTV branded large ‘ski jump’ that will most certainly compete with 38 as the longest jump on the island is similar in stature, and is possibly in 14. It is accessible from the second half of 34, as well as a shortcut from the southern road.
34: A large shortcut passing from the eastern edge of the Island, through the eastern block and meeting 37 at an intersection. It then passes onto 33, and ends. It is thought there will be many a jump opportunity in this area.
35: A small road without traffic, passing behind Perren’s Point, and then onto 34.
36: A reasonably long shortcut starting with a jump, and then onto a wooden platform leaving with a billboard, and onto 28.
37: A double-ended shortcut. It intersects with 34, and finishes one way with a reasonably sized split ramp, and the other a billboard jump onto 35.
38: A 2-part jump involving suspended platforms on the bridge. Air-time of over 4 seconds can be achieved here.
39: A billboard jump achieved by jumping from 40, also gaining a billboard. Running Adjacent to this shortcut is another, reached from 37, also containing a billboard and building jump, but eventually running over the first shortcut and onto the eastern road.
40: Els Bels: A semi-circular half-built hotel running on the inside of 34. On the southern side is a billboard jump, crossing a pathway running along the south-east. On the northern end is another billboard jump, crossing over another pathway, running underneath the building.
41: A sewer system running parallel to a road, with entrances at all roads.
42: 2 tunnels running parallel to one another, known to contain little/no gameplay.
43: A small billboard jump running parallel to 22. It may split and lead onto 36 and the other end of 22.
44: A single storey car park.
