In Topic: P12 88 Special- Hyperspeed Explained

DJPlayedYA, on Feb 25 2009, 08:52 PM, said:As most know, the P12 88 Special acts extremely weird...sometimes it's lightning fast and you go around breaking all sorts of road time records, and other times it feels like you're driving Miss Daisy. Well we experimented with the 88 Special a bit to see how this can happen. Then my friend BAD_COMPANY82 came across how to get the fast version. He told me how to do it, then we came to the same conclusion...it's a junkyard glitch. In game version 1.7, Criterion included all of the DLC cars already in the game. If you noticed when you bought the Legendary Cars, you only downloaded a 100KB file. This is basically just an activation code to unlock the cars in the game. So the other DLC cars are already in the game too...including the Hot Rod Extreme. We think the game is sometimes confusing the 88 Special's vehicle dynamics with the Hot Rod Extreme's. Of course for our theory to be correct, we'll have to know how fast the HRE is when it comes out. If it is just as fast as the 88 Special with "hyperspeed", then we'll be correct.
This is another very unfortunate bug for this game. The reason is is that if the HRE doesn't handle as well as the 88 Special and Criterion fix this glitch, then most of the roads that we have beaten with the 88 Special will no longer be beatable. And for us road time junkies, it'll be a real shame. I've already broken records on upwards of 25 roads with the 88 Special, and if those roads are untouchable in the future, then it'll suck for me and everyone else on my list.
Easy answer just have all the online Road rules Reset ... i know its not what you Road time junkies want to hear but if the time is glitched and not possible to beat then resetting it is the fairest and easyest way i think -

Dam right there 2 easy this has been one of the main things iv disliked about playing online the whole takedown system needs revising, how to go about it on the other hand i dont have any ideas at hand but for starters just make them harder to achieve -

I do agree with you it does get annoying, and there are some players that get their kicks out of spoiling someone else's game.
There are a few threads in the online section that have players looking for other like minded players to do challenges with.
yeah iv got 5 friends (not many i know) that i can have a laugh with and have Td brawls and do challenges with, the down side is having friends on at the same time and in ur game *they may be in there friends* iv got 2,3,4 both time and freeburn done thnx to them its just getting people to do 5*i think* 6,7,8 timed *done Freeburn*
but as a side note the biggest thing iv got with online is the whole dam TAKE DOWN SYSTEM its way to easy to get Tds, having takedowns online was a nice idea i just think they havent implemented it very well they really need to be made harder to achieve !!!! -

EyeOfTheStorm, on Feb 24 2009, 01:49 PM, said:The structure was odd as well. The good "allrounder" was basically slow and pointless to drive because the Firehawk was immediately better.
Then at 50%, you get an upgrade to the slow bike, which is still slower than the Firehawk and probably never gets used.
Then the GP Competition is just brutally fast, handles pretty damn well and leaves little room for anything else.
If it had been structured so you started with the FV bike on it's own, then got the upgrade to this, then got the basic Firehawk, then finally the GP Competition, it would have felt more logical.
Different bikes with characteristics that give you a reason to ride them other than the brutal speed would be good.
And of course, more checkpointed races that dont end at the compass points. This was the most brilliant idea of them all.
i use the FV100 TI because the GP comp is fast but if u even so much as tap anything thats it and also for a racing bike its brakes are real poor so i use the slower but faster bike because its more stable and forgiving
