Criterion has teased yesterday that they have a new title coming in 2010 via Twitter, stating “2010 will satisfy our increasing desire for travelling at a rate of high velocity….or words to that effect…”

Whether this will be a new Burnout title or perhaps a new IP, or a more obvious cryptic message regarding the next Need For Speed title. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I'm guessing Need for Speed. Personally, I'm willing to exchange super-detailed crash damage for customization of the car, so long as they keep the sense of speed (NFS feels like you're going at toy car speeds).

If you look at some older tweets from just before Christmas, you can see they replied to someone's question that their next game is Need for Speed. They also replied to a question saying all the DLC for Burnout is already out.

There's a new tweet for today saying how they're going back to work tomorrow after the Christmas break.

I get the impression, at least from a marketing point of view, that it will signal a shift from Burnout to Need for Speed. I'm sure they've been working on NfS for ages, but I'd guess we might start to get some concrete details, screen shots etc going forward now.

Will NfS get it's own forum on here? Obviously, this is a Burnout site, and I know other companies than Criterion have worked on games in the Burnout series....but still...it's a racing game made by Criterion. Surely there's still a huge crossover of Burnout fans who will be following this game and what better place than here to discuss it with like minded fans?

As much as I love that show, I don't think I'd appreciate a free-roaming obstacle course where you're supposed to fail.

WipEout, however? Maybe, but turning corners would be tricky, right? May as well just make a free-roam highway.

But i really dont hope its another need for speed game. When i hear about a game in the need for speed series i instantly think of it as a crappy experience, like pro street..
Personally i hope its another burnout game, dont let me down criterion! xD

Your in denial, it's been confirmed several times Criterion are working on another NFS game. No doubt they're going to try and match the success of the classic, Arcade Supercar NFS rather than the stuck-up titles of recent years.

However at this point we know nothing about the game.

I bet your right, Just still seams a bit weird... NFS made by Criterion. I'm trying not get my hopes up on this one. I don't want to be too bummed if it's not what I'm expecting.

I think we'll definitely be seeing Need for Speed at E3...check out the Criterion twitter, they've posted a few messages about NFS in recent weeks including on proclaiming all will be revealed in the City of Angels.
